This painting was done in 1888. I chose it because it reminded me of a steet in Granada, Spain where I studied abroad last semester. Van Gogh did this painting because he wanted to show that the night was more lively than the day. Also I think the contrast with the yellow and blues are really nice and appealing. The pattern of the sidewalk really gives it a Europeans cobble tone feel. And the stars in the sky moves your eye.
