Van Gogh--Wheatfield with Crows

Vincent Van Gogh painted this oil painting in 1890, and it is often assumed to be his last work. However, there is no basis to this statement, and which work was truly his last is unknown. It is currently at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. I liked this painting because the sky looks so dark in contrast to the field. Van Gogh wrote in a letter that he painted this to represent his "extreme sadness and solitude." Overall, the feeling is very ominous. In addition, the multitude of visible brushstrokes makes it seem as if the field is in constant motion from wind.
