Van Gogh

Van Gogh made this painting of Sunflowers in 1889. These sunflowers are one of his most favorite pieces of art. He first made this piece for his friend Paul Gauguin. Van Gogh was staying with Gaugin during this time, and thought to make this piece to decorate Gaugin's bedroom. I really do like this painting because it has all stages of a sunflower. All the way from it sprouting, to living, to dying. He has managed to put in every stage of "life" for a sunflower into this one paining all bunched together in one vase. Not only do I like this picture because I really do like sunflowers, but because of the detail and color scheme. It's so peaceful and beautiful meanwhile he only used 3 colors. Absolutely breath taking.
