Wayne Thiebaud

Wayne Thiebaud painted this painting of 9 candy apples in the 1980's. I like it how the painting isn't that realistic. It still has a little bit of cartoon-ish to it. The blue shadows behind the bright red apples are one of my favorite parts of this painting. It is so unusual and different that it sticks out. The different sticks sticking up in different directions make it more realistic. If it was all in 3 straight lines, it wouldn't look as realistic. I like the fact that it is not a cake like most of his paintings. I chose the candy apples because of what I stated previously, as well as I thought it was a perfect fit for the beginning of fall.
