Vincent Van Gogh self portrait

The above painting is a self-portrait of the artist Vincent Van Gogh.  I chose this painting after checking what my classmates had done and seen that no one had yet chosen it, thinking that his self-portrait would add to the class discussion.  I also really like how his style can be gleaned from this portrait in not only the background but also the way he creates the folds in his clothing. I like that rather than going for an ultra-realistic portrayal he opted to capture the essence of a person while still showing intensity in his own eyes that hard to miss.
