Three machines is an oil painting on canvas made in 1963 by Wayne Thiebaud. I chose this painting because of how simple the subject is, but it is also so complex. There is nothing in the background to take your attention away from the focus of the painting. I love the gumballs, as the colors are so bright, that it seems unrealistic. However, that adds to the nostalgia about childhood this painting evokes.
