Van Gogh: The Church at Auvers

This is an oil painting created by Vincent Van Gogh in June, 1890. It currently resides in the museum Musée d'Orsay in Paris, France. The church painted is located in Place de l'Eglise, Auvers-sur-Oise, France. This oil painting along with others that portrayed Auvers is supposedly reminiscent of scenes from the northern landscapes of his childhood. A couple weeks before he left he wrote a letter stating "While I was ill I nevertheless did some little canvases from memory which you will see later, memories of the North" It is obvious that Van Gogh had an interesting love for the north and its cool to know he painted this just from his memory.
