Paul Gauguin was a post-Impressionist artist from France. He
is known for his use of color. Portrait of Madeleine Bernard was painted
in 1888 on a visit to Pont-Aven. Its an oil on canvas. This portrait really
caught my attention because the female being depicted is being painted from one
side. In which her face is profiled from the right. Another thing I like from the portrait was that Gauguin added that feminine touch to the portrait in which he shows Bernard is wearing make up. He give the lips a nice color. Also, I like how Gauguin made the color blue
to stand out in the portrait, but it does not take away from the female.
