Vase with Red Poppies by Vincent van Gogh

Van Gogh created seven different paintings featuring poppy flowers from 1886 to 1890. Still-life painting was practical for Van Gogh since he couldn’t pay models. Vase with Red Poppies was created in the summer of 1886. It’s an oil painting on canvas.  I really like the use of color in this painting and the visible brush strokes. Vincent van Gogh was an impressionist artist who used color as a symbol of expression.
