Vincent Van Gogh - The Cottage
Van Gogh painted this oil on canvas in May of 1885. He depicted rural life with this old thatched cottage. A great deal of his masterpieces are of buildings. I chose this painting because he makes it very eerie, as the sky shows us that it is around dusk. I found it interesting that Van Gogh made such a dark subject stand out, as everything sort of blends together with the dark colors and ominous tones.
