April Gornik is a contemporary artist that paints landscapes. She is known for her realistic artwork that has a dreamlike quality. Her painting, Green Shade, was made in 2012. This painting is oil on linen and is 72 inches by 108 inches. I chose this painting simply because it is stunning. It is a giant painting filled with so much detail. There are so many trees, leaves, and shades of green that make this painting come alive. I love how she shows the sunlight coming through the leaves and shining on the forest floor. The painting looks so realistic, yet like a scene from a fairytale at the same time; which is what she is known for.
