Rembrandt is usually regarded as the the greatest artist of Hollands golden age. Rembrandt did intense studies of people, objects and their surroundings, as is evident in his work. His portraits are so life life and detailed. I picked this painting because I liked the look of the woman with her jewels across her head, and the pink carnation in her hand.
