Saltillo Mansion by Edward Hopper

This watercolor painting was created in 1943. Hopper named it “Saltillo Mansion” because he and his wife resided in Mexico during the summer. The reason being that he was looking for new sceneries and new subjects for his paintings. Edward Hopper was an American realist painter. In this painting Hopper projected stillness and solitude. The painting shows the rooftop with its decorative carvings, hills, trees, and the white building against the blue sky.
