The Holy Family by Night

the above painting is called "The Holy Family by Night" it was painted by Rembrandt who was capable of depicting such peaceful intimacy with only a few touches. I chose this work because I liked the shadows. the painting is supposed to depict Mary and her mother Anne next to the Christ Child. joeseph is also in the painting but he is crouched under the staircase where he is something to drink from a barrel. marry reads a book as her mother Anne sleeps. I really liked the way the room looks with so many small details coming together to form a full picture.
