This piece is called "Jacob wrestling with the angel". The idea behind this painting is from a story of the Old Testament. This shows Jacob actually wrestling with an angel. They say the story behind this painting is talking about the struggle in a person's heart between selfishness, and higher ideals. Jacob represents the selfishness. Due to his past of doing anything possible to get his way. The angel represents the higher ideals. Due to the relationship with angels and being the good of all goods. I like this painting because well it is a gorgeous painting, and I look paintings of angels. But I really do love the meaning behind it.
