The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp, 1632, Rembrandt








Rembrandt was a Dutch painter and was considered one of the most important in Dutch art history. This painting is one of his earliest pieces. It depicts a corpse of a criminal who was convicted for armed robbery and was sentenced to death by hanging. I like this painting because you can see each persons' different reaction to what is being shown. There are also a lot of different shadows that make the piece come together.
