Picasso’s Rose Period lasted
from 1904 to 1906. Picasso used hues such as red, orange, and earth tones to make
his work. This period was more cheerful than his previous Blue Period which
depicted sadness, loneliness, and poverty by using tones of blue. In 1906 the “Girl
with Goat” was painted. Picasso created this piece in Gasol, Spain during the
summer. His direction with this piece was to incorporate subtle signs of
classical antiquity. Such that the boy represents a figure from Greek statuary.
The girl represents Venus by arranging her hair.
